If you have Power Macintosh or your computer is running Windows 98, you can connect the Expression 1600 with the USB cable that came with the scanner. Windows 98 must be p reinstalled on your computer; it cannot be upgraded from Windows 95. There is no USB support for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0
You may also need to change the scanner’s SCSI ID setting before you connect it to your computer. If you have another SCSI device that uses SCSI ID 2, turn the scanner off and turn the SCSI ID switch on the back of the scanner to a new number.
Installing the Windows 98 Software
Before you begin, make sure the Expression 1600 is connected to your computer. Also, make sure you’ve re calibrated your monitor to factory specifications.
This procedure automatically installs your EPSON TWAIN Pro drive and any software you need for a USB connection. If you’re using SCSI connection and are configuring your SCSI interface card for the first time, you’ll be asked to install your SCSI drive at the beginning of installation. Follow the instructions on the screen to install your SCSI drive, or see the documentation that came with your SCSI card.
Scanning Color Images
If the colors in your scanned image don’t match those in your original document, try experimenting with the Unsharp Mask setting. Click the Destination button in the EPSON TWAIN Pro main window to display the Destination window, and then select or deselect Unsharp Mask.
