Hitachi VME420E Camcorder Owner’s Manual
If the OPEN lever is flat, the cover will not close. Always remove the battery from the camera/recorder after use. We cannot guarantee that the camera/recorder will not malfunction if you use battery packs other than those specified. Always attach a battery by the procedure described here. Attaching a battery forcibly could damage it.
When the batteries are used to power the camera/recorder in a cold place, it may not operate normally; the operation time may become extremely short or the camera/recorder may not be turned on. It is recommended that you use a battery pack to power the camera/recorder in a cold place. (At 10′C, The the chemical reaction decreases the capacity of battery to one tenth when compared to that at normal temperature 20′C.)
Note: If you repeatedly charge a battery which is not completely discharged or leave a battery unused for a long time, the operation time of the battery will become shorter even it is recommended that you refresh the battery before charging it. Attach the battery and then press the refresh button to refresh it. When refreshing is complete, the CHARGE indicator will light in place of the REFRESH indicator and charging will start automatically.
8 mm Video Cassette
An 8 mm Video Cassette has a record-protect tab on the side of the cassette that can be slid to prevent accidental erasure of recorded material. To prevent accidental erasure, slide the record-protect tab in the direction of the arrow until the tab is completely visible. To record on the cassette again, slide the record-protect tab in the direction of the arrow. The tab will disappear behind the cassette case.
Note: If “ZOOM” appears in the viewfinder, the digital zoom function is engaged. When the power zoom switch is operated, the zoom position is displayed in the viewfinder for about 5 seconds and the disappears. The zoom position is displayed in 10 steps.
