A. Direct Connection

You can connect the Ethernet cable provided with your Cable or DSL modem directly to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox console. Some configuration of the Xbox Network Settings may be required

Configuring Xbox Network Settings (if necessary)

If the Xbox console cannot connect automatically, you may need to use Network Setup in the Xbox Dashboard to configure some network settings. Many ISPs require specific settings before allowing access to the Internet.

These settings may include a host name, MAC address, or an ISP user name and password (for PPPoE authentication). If you are unsure about whether you need this information, check with your broadband service provider.
