You can use the TV’s IR OUT terminal (infrared pass through) to remotely operate (through the TV) many infrared remote-controlled devices (such as Toshiba infrared remote controlled VCRs or DVD players) enclosed within an entertainment center or similar cabinet. Without the IR OUT connection, the device typically would need to be visible to operate it remotely

Connecting an HDMI™ or DVI device to the HDMI input

The HDMI input on your TV receives digital audio and uncompressed digital video from an HDMI source device, or uncompressed digital video from a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) source device. This input is designed to accept HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital-Content Protection) program material in digital form from EIA/CEA-861-D–compliant[1] consumer electronic devices (such as a set-top box or DVD player with HDMI or DVI output).

Device code setup

1. Find the code for your device brand in the remote control device code table on pages 29–35. If more than one code is listed, try each one separately until you find one that works.
2. Press the applicable mode select button (CABLE/SAT, DVD, or VCR/PVR), until the mode select button blinks 3 times.
3. While holding down, press the five-digit device code for your device.
   • If a valid code is entered, the mode select button will blink twice.
   • If an invalid code is entered, the mode select button will blink one long blink.
4. Point the remote control at the device and press p to test the code.
   • If the device responds to the remote control, you have entered the correct code.
   • If the device does not respond to the remote control, repeat steps 3 and 4 using another code.

Programming channels automatically

Your TV can automatically detect all active channels in your area and store them in its memory. After the channels are programmed automatically, you can manually add or erase individual channels in the channel memory.
